Heritage of Cebu Monument

The Cebu Heritage Monument is one place visitors of the Queen City of the South should not miss

Heritage of Cebu Monument is Located on the original Plaza Parian, the Heritage of Cebu Monument showcases the significant and symbolic events in the history of Cebu, from the time of Rajah Humabon to the recent beatification of Cebuano martyr Pedro Calungsod. The monumental sculptural tableau is the work of national artist Eduardo Castrillo. Construction began on July 1997 and inaugurated in Dec. 8, 2000.

The monument was built using funds from donations given by private individuals and organizations. The Heritage Monument depicts scenes of the baptism of Rajah Humabon, the Battle of Mactan between Ferdinand Magellan and Lapu-Lapu, a Roman Catholic Mass, and a Santo Niño procession.
